World Immunisation Week

This is the animation I directed at Aardman for the Gates Foundation released especially for World Immunisation Week 2018.

In an era with an online anti-vaccination movement, vaccine-preventable diseases are seeing a resurgence. The Gates Foundation wanted to create a video to remind people how important vaccinations are, not only for people's children but for the greater population.

This was my first project back from maternity leave with my first child. Parenthood inspired my approach to this film. As a parent, protecting my child is the most important thing in the world. I would go to any lengths to keep her safe. This is why I wanted to put the  relationship of a parent protecting their child at the forefront of the story.

Three 'parent and child' pairs (from different areas of the world) take us on a journey, dipping back in time to show us how things were before vaccinations, where we are now and where we could be if we stop the efforts to encourage vaccinations today.

Here are some inital sketches and designs.
