Get Well Soon is the brainchild project of Dave Anderson from 12foot6. In 2009 we collaborated to conduct a number of interviews around the theme of injuries. We never knew how the project would develop at the time, but we collected hours of stories. Dave and I selected our favourite, from ironing legs, drunken chicken outfit hospital appearances, and my favourite, a drive-by shooting featuring a dog called Lucky. We edited the audios, to keep the stories punchy, and dished them out to animation directors, with the freedom to make whatever film they wanted using the audio. The only thing that remains constant in all the films, is me, nurse Lucy, the interviewer.
As a result, there are more than 8 films in this Get Well Soon project, mine being called Sorry to Hear You Got Shot in a Drive-By Shooting. The films have had many screenings at festivals over the last year, at places such as Latitude and the East End Film Festival, since the debut screening at XOYO in December 2010. This is a continuing body of work . . . so watch this space!
